Belief is powerful. It places the cultural and spiritual responsibility of parenting on the shoulders of every generation that follows.

When I think of my Mukutul, I can see that when she committed to her Aboriginal marriage vows, she projected the strength of Aboriginal womanhood onto future generations.

I believe that my Mukutul, at 19 years of age was ready and, on her path, to be a wonderful Nupa and Kaya, had her heart not been ill already.

I feel empowered to think of her as a strong-willed, beautiful Mukinj ready to lead her life fuelled by the inner strength and values that even in death, she passed onto her Kuthara.
